party [Apr. 28th, 2005|10:09 pm]
#7 Roselawn Terrace

are there any objections to holding an end-of-year party saturday, may 7th? i am looking to call it end of daze and bill it as a sendoff for graduating seniors and as a likely end to roselawn 7 parties.

i am under the impression ed and i will be the primary perpetrators of this event. i plan to charge no cover and be personally responsible for expenses unless others wish to throw me money.

if there are no objections, invites will go out within a day or two.

also... we need to take care of red party expenses before people leave.

general bits [Feb. 20th, 2005|02:19 pm]

  • one of my martini glasses is broken. they were cheap, and i have more, so i don't mind so much, but i'm sort of interested as to how this happened, and also how it happened that after this there are pieces of broken glass on the kitchen floor that i nearly stepped on with bare feet.</i>

  • there are foodservice potato chips sitting around. are they public? aside from one of them saying to use by a week ago, and the other lacking a date at all.

  • we should send out a party invite within the next couple days, and also consider a roselawn dance night

Dishes in the sink [Oct. 10th, 2004|06:10 pm]

If you have time enough to cook, you should have time enough to clean.

Or more precisely, if you don't have time to clean, you shouldn't cook.

Please, people. I'd like to be able to make something, without having to worry if the dishes I'm going to use are clean beforehand. If you use something, clean it within a day. If you think "It's just a plate" or "It's just a cup", that's the kind of thinking that leads to the sink being full without it being anyone's fault.

That being said, whoever used the large baking pan, please clean it. I cleaned the rest of the stuff in the sink, but that's just too nasty for me to want to touch.

Hey, does anyone mind if a girl sleeps on our couch for a couple nights on a weekend in October?

No is a valid answer; if you mind, say.

[edit: It's a friend of mine from CTY who lives in western PA. She's flying into PGH from school in Portland and wants to visit for a few days.]

each part has an implicit "thoughts? please comment." at the end:

    groceries etcCollapse )

    things to buyCollapse )

    speakersCollapse )

    partyCollapse )

we could also have some manner of meeting if people prefer, but then we should schedule it.

    party [May. 9th, 2004|01:20 am]
    #7 Roselawn Terrace

i'm considering having a party here monday night. i'd (personally) buy snacks and supplies, and the den may bring its alcohol to suppliment ours, so i'm mostly checking if anyone has a problem with it.

We need to take care of the party money like... soon. I know gz is leaving this weekend, so that leaves us sometime in the next 2-3 days to do it...

it's time to seriously consider a party again. if we hold it on the thursday before midsemester/spring break, that's in about 3 weeks, and we'll need to send out invites preferably as soon as possible.

    progress! progress!

cleaning policy [Jan. 19th, 2004|11:46 pm]
    #7 Roselawn Terrace

i definitely didn't get this idea from the den...

i'm considering declaring an honor-system-based mandatory cleaning policy for seven, such that housemates are required to perform between 20 and 30 minutes of cleaning of the house common areas per week. this would likely include cleaning up your own shit which you've left on tables or in the sink for some nontrivial amount of time, but would hopefully lead to things like cleaning of the bathroom, dusting, and tablespace.

    thoughts, please.
